Celsion Amper Cup – Top-class tennis in Haimhausen/Germany

The Celsion Amper Tennis Cup will take place for the 25th time in July!

The Amper Tennis Cup (ATC) will be held for the 25th time in 2023.

The prize money has been increased to a record sum of €6000. This makes the tournament for men and women one of the most prestigious amateur tournaments in Bavaria. It will take place from Friday, July 14th, to Sunday, July 16th, at the SV Haimhausen tennis club.

Who would have thought it back then? When Stefan Weingärtner was approached by BTV at the end of 1995 to organize a supra-regional ranking tournament at SV Haimhausen, nobody could have guessed that the ATC would develop into an integral part of the national tournament scene over the years.

The number of participants and the sporting quality steadily increased. In 1996, 35 players took part in both competitions. A prize purse of 2000 DM was up for grabs. Even former German Davis Cup player Peter Gojowczyk (ranked 39th in the world in 2018) made his mark at the ATC as a junior. In 2012, ten players from the German top 200 competed. By 2022, 92 participants were vying for the title. In 2022, 15-year-old Philippa Färber won the women's competition. That same year, she also won the silver medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Slovakia.

In 2023, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its tennis department and the 25th edition of the ATC, SV Haimhausen doubled the prize money to €6000. The tournament was promoted to category A4 in the Bavarian Tennis Association's rankings, making it one of the few top tournaments in Bavaria. Admission is free.
